At Hambledon Primary School, we believe that learning extends far beyond the classroom. Our programme of educational visits and extra-curricular activities is designed to inspire curiosity, enrich learning, and create memorable experiences for all pupils.

Pupils enjoy a range of educational visits and enrichment activities that bring learning to life and develop their confidence, including theatre performances, concerts, themed curriculum days, sporting events and outdoor learning opportunities. Book Week, held annually, inspires a love of reading across the school, while special visitors and workshops help broaden children's understanding of the chosen theme.

Throughout the year, children have the opportunity to take part in a wide range of visits linked to their curriculum topics. These may include trips to museums, historical sites, places of worship, nature reserves, theatres, farms, and local community locations. In addition, we offer two whole school trips a yaer - one as a Christmas treat and one to link in with our whole school environmental topic theme. Such experiences help bring learning to life, enabling children to make meaningful connections between their classroom studies and the wider world.

Residential visits for older pupils provide valuable opportunities to develop independence, resilience, teamwork and confidence. Outdoor and adventurous activities encourage children to challenge themselves, build friendships and create lasting memories. Year 3/4 have a residential trip to the Sustainability Centre for 2 days/1 night while Year 5/6 are given the opportunity to attend a 5 day/4 night residential trip to Runways End.

Children participate enthusiastically in inter-school competitions, festivals and tournaments, developing teamwork, resilience and confidence. Our whole school cricket days, held regularly, are a firm favourite and ensure all Hambledon pupils have a good understanding and appreciate for the sport which we feel is only right as Hambledon is the birthplace of cricket! We are grateful to staff, volunteers and local organisations who support these opportunities.

Music, art and creative projects are also offered throughout the year, with pupils showcasing their talents through performances, displays and concerts. Seeing children's creativity and confidence grow is a joy for staff and families alike.

Over the 2025-2026 school year, we have supported 9 charities through fundraising and awareness days, attended 10 sports competitions, taken part in 22 workshops, gone on 18 school trips, and held 19 concerts or productions, all while still ensuring our children are learning what they need to know in order to progress through the primary curriculum! This year has also seen a further increase in our music provision, with children having lessons in 13 different instruments.

In addition to our regular class music lessons, we offer musical tuition through Drum with Alex or Southern Music Project in piano, keyboard, brass, flute, recorder, drums and guitar. Rocksteady, a further peripatetic music provider, offers lessons to pupils wanting to learn an instrument as part of a band. Each child, as part of our music curriculum and at no extra cost to families, will receive a term's worth of instrumental tuition for 6 different instruments. All pupils are given the chance to perform to the whole school and parents in end-of-term concerts.

We are proud to be recognised for the work we do in helping our children understand the positive impact they can have on different communities and we were awarded the Social Impact Award in 2024. Our pupils regularly take part in events within our local community such as teaching the Church Choir the signs to accompanying two of their Christmas carols, presenting poetry and songs at the local luncheon clubs and working with the Hambledon Historical Society, Hambledon Poetry Society and Hambledon Greening Society.

Through our After School provider, Active Me 360, we offer 10 different after-school clubs each half term in addition to running a breakfast club and extended day club. Please see the below leaflet to find out more information on how to book onto either the clubs or wraparound provision.
