We are now in Summer 2 term.
We are going to do a whole school topic this term. We will be looking at the 7 continents of the world.
I hope you enjoy finding out about the world around you and discovering new things.
You could create a piece of bunting for each of the countries as we discover each continent and build it up as we go through the term.
This week we will be exploring Oceania.
Your work for this week is below. Remember you can still visit all of the previously mentioned websites for your reading and phonics.
The Go jetters have visited a few places and if you would like to see where, you can watch on the iplayer,

Butterfly hatching 🦋
Our caterpillars arrived today. They arrived in a small box marked fragile. When we opened up the box, the tub they are in was upside down but they all seem fine. They really are very tiny caterpillars. 🐛
I will keep you updated with their development.
Three of the caterpillars made it into their cocoons and two of them have made their full change into butterflies. One more to go!
I planted my sunflower seeds on 28 March 2020 (picture 1)
Look how much they had grown when I took pictures 2 & 3 on 5 April!
Picture 4 on 6 April
Picture 5 on 8 April
Picture 6 on 12 April.
I have just looked at them again today and I am going to have to think where to put them now as they are starting to out grow the greenhouse.
I wonder how tall they will grow?
Have any of you planted any sunflowers? If you have, why don't you post some pictures on the blog.
Can you measure them and let me know how tall they are getting?
Today, 29 April, We planted the sunflowers in Robins garden. We have planted one for each class and the children drew a picture of the class bird, which is attached to the bamboo cane of each. We will keep you updated with their development and if you walk past school you will be able to see for yourselves.
PhonicsPlay have decided to make their resources free to use during this period.
Children can use the site at home without their parents needing to subscribe. To access the resources all you need to do is log on using the following details.
Junior Scratch is a coding app where children can create their own interactive stories and games.
There are ideas of activities on the site.
Why not have a go at one of their ideas or creating your own.
Free Downloadable resources from TTS for Early Years and KS1
I did try and upload these but the files are too big.
You can find these resources at:

Thank you to Dr Tanzer for coming in to talk to the children.
We enjoyed a visit from our local storyteller, Dawn Nelson.
Dawn came in to retell the tale of 'Shenkin's Fairy Gold'
The children really enjoyed listening to the story and taking part. They all made a piece of bunting which is now displayed in our story corner.
We had a bit of a Scottish Themed day on Friday 24 January to celebrate Robert Burns' birthday on the 25th.
We had a visit from Una from the village who came and played the Accordion for us whilst we danced the Circassian Circle that we have been learning.
Then we all had the opportunity to taste Haggis, Neeps and Tatties, which nearly everyone did and to their surprise, actually quite liked. We finished the day with a visit from Frank Luard who came dressed in his kilt and played the Bagpipes for us.
We had great fun!
